Smith Increases Community Water Conservation and Awareness with Eco-Friendly Solutions

Fort Worth, TX – February 10, 2012 – John Smith, an Arizona plumbing contractor specializing in green business and water awareness, was recently named Contractor of the Year by Contractor magazine. Smith, a 16-year industry veteran, was also the GreenPlumbers® USA national Green Plumber of the Year in 2010 and 2011.

Save Water, Save Money

As President of Rooter 2000 Plumbing & Drain with offices in Phoenix and Tucson, Smith focuses on providing his clients with plumbing solutions that also help to conserve water and energy. Smith offers homeowners an overall water evaluation to identify areas of the home where they can save money on their water and utility bills through green plumbing solutions.

During his evaluations, Smith frequently suggests his clients swap out their old toilets, showerheads, and aerators and replace them with green products as these can provide vast cost savings over time. For example, Smith often recommends Niagara Conservation’s UHET Water-Saving Kit, a combination of a toilet using 0.8 gallons per flush (GPF), low-flow showerhead and aerator, which can save the homeowner up to 40,000 gallons of water and more than $200 per year. Or, just by switching an older 3.5 GPF toilet for a Niagara EcoLogic Flapperless toilet using only 1.28 GPF, homeowners can save nearly 15,000 gallons of water per year. In addition, Smith only recommends green plumbing products he has tried or tested to ensure he provides the most effective and efficient products available.

Understanding Arizona – Local Plumbing Needs

Smith also attributes his success to understanding his customers’ needs on a local level. For example, the state of Arizona is known for its hard water and homeowners are often challenged to find the correct flapper for their toilet to combat the hard water issue. Finding a solution such as Niagara Conservation’s Flapperless toilet eliminates the problem altogether, enabling Smith to provide a simple and effective solution for his customers.

“I am incredibly honored to be named Contractor of the Year and receive this award for providing my customers with the best products and solutions not only for their needs but for the environment,” noted Smith. “Through my work with Green Plumbers USA and other industry organizations, I was able to learn more about great green products, such as those from Niagara Conservation. My goal is to install products that I know will perform at a high-level for my clients while helping them to save water and money in the process – it’s a win-win-win because it is great for my customers, the environment, and my business.”
